A mere 110 players, out of the 1,694 that entered the race, are still alive at the Main Event for the first day of the 12th season of the PokerStars.es European Poker Tour Barcelona. The leader was Ukrainian player  Oleksii Khoroshenin , who was crowned the champion of the Vienna EPT 10 a couple of seasons ago.

Five of those survivors are Latin players, Uruguayan Diego Casco , being the one on top with 1,091,000 chips in his stack. He will be joined by Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari , his compatriot Rafael Do Prado , Argentine Mario López  and  Venezuelan Miguel Cieri .
