The first stop of the Peter’s Poker Tour was a five day action-packed event. The Main Event registered 364 entries for a $305,706 prizepool. The final table had players from five different countries but at the end Colombia’s Frank Naranjo took the title.
Only sixteen players returned for the final day of the tournament. Miles Timothy (15° – $3.669), Félix Barriga (14° – $3.975) and Jose Severino (12° – $4.281) were the first eliminations of the day. Alex Brenes (9° – $6.727), Rodrigo Quezada (8° – $7.950) and Luis Perez were also eliminated but reached the final table.
Almost an hour later Mario Bustamante (6° – $10.396), Julián Velásquez (5° – $13.453) and Tomás Altamirano (4° – $16.817) were eliminated. With only three players looking for the title, the next elimination was Amos Ben .
The two remaining players reached a deal with $62,500 for Naranjo and $54,500 for Castillo leaving an extra $4,687 for the champion. The final hand came when Naranjo raised to 200,000 and Castillo called. The flop was 4 6 7 and Naranjo bet 200,000 raised to 700,000 by his rival. Action returned to Naranjo who announced his all-in with 6 5 called by his rival with 10 7. The turn was a 5 enough to give Naranjo two pair and the title of the tournament.
