Inicio > WPT Vienna: Vlad Darie overcomes adversity to win the title

Vlad Darie Flag of Rumania became the first Romanian to win a WPT event after defeating Zoltan Gal Flag of Hungría for the World Poker Tour Vienna title. Darie earned €170,800 and his seat for the upcoming WPT Tournament of Champions. Vlad now has over $500,000 dollars in winnings and is eight in Romania’s all-time money list.

The Romanian player started heads-up as the shortstack but quickly recovered. The duel lasted only 72 hands before Darie defeated Gal when his K 6 hit a six enough to take the title back to Romania. Gal took home €109,430 and scores his second biggest career cash.

Season XIV of the World Poker Tour comes to an end next month with the $3,500 buy-in Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship and the historic $15,000 buy-in WPT Tournament of Champions.
